A Message to Youth

Breaking the Walls of the Past

From War Zone to Space Island

Space Peace

To the young generation in the Middle East:

Often, we find ourselves paralyzed before an invisible glass wall. Because we once struck it and bled in the past, we lose the courage to move forward—even after the glass has shattered. This is known as "Pike Syndrome", a form of learned helplessness where past failures and traumas erase the infinite possibilities of the present.

This paralysis is deeply rooted in what Dr. Martin E. P. Seligman calls "Learned Helplessness". When we repeatedly experience failures and systematic frustrations beyond our control, we condition ourselves to stop trying—even when the power to change our circumstances finally becomes available. This is not a failure of your will; it is the devastating psychological price of losing a sense of control, trapped by the thought: "No matter what I do, nothing will change."

Looking at this from the perspective of social psychology research, and from my viewpoint as "Mr. Racial Harmony" Oshell Oh, I must speak frankly about how this psychological contraction affects some of our youth in the Middle East. When young minds are confined in environments of strong authority, rigid interpretations of dogma, and blind conformity, they are deprived of the opportunity for self-exploration.

Let me be clear: This is not an attack on religion itself. Faith is a profound pillar of our shared humanity. However, we must challenge the structures that restrict your freedom to question, explore, and choose. When external authority and closed belief systems overpower your independent judgment, they threaten the actual formation of your identity.

At this very moment, humanity is caught in this exact trap. While our technology reaches for the stars, our politics and civilizations remain shackled to ancient languages of hatred and revenge. Your past must not be the destiny of your future.

I know the reality you face is painful, and the data reflects this heartbreaking truth. We must look at these facts clearly, not to despair, but to understand the wall we must break:

  • Displacement Crisis: According to the UNHCR, by the end of 2024, global forced displacement reached a staggering 123.2 million people, revealing the massive human cost of war and persecution.
  • Stagnant Horizons: The World Bank and the ILO highlight that the MENA region is trapped in low economic growth due to conflict and debt. The Arab labor market faces severe stagnation in 2024.
  • Gaza Tragedy: The UNDP warned that war could set human development in Gaza back by up to 69 years, with its GDP projected to drop by 35.1%. UNICEF reports that over 90% of schools in Gaza have been damaged.

According to SIPRI, military spending in the Middle East rose to $243 billion in 2024, a 15% increase from the previous year. We pump billions into funding our destruction while starving the imagination required for building peace.

The Hope Rising World Space Island project is not a naive fantasy; it is a powerful symbol of transition—from a civilization obsessed with war to one rooted in survival, education, ethical technology, and cooperation. Looking toward the universe is the ultimate blueprint for designing a new civilization that transcends earthly hatred.

The choice is yours. Will you remain a world imprisoned by memories of war,
or will you rise to build a "Hope Rising World"?
